Maddox was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in May 2011 at the age of three. The next three and a half years were a whirlwind of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, hospitalizations, spinal taps and endless doctor visits. Through it all, he started school, made friends and played with everyone he met. Never one to be brought down, Maddox has maintained an optimistic outlook on life throughout his entire treatment and beyond, taking each day as it comes with a smile and intent.
Maddox loves football, his friends and family, and sometimes school. He is now in the third grade and enjoys learning math and reading with his reading buddy. Ever the avid conversationalist, anyone would enjoy a good talk with him. He enjoys singing along to the radio and is good with a yo-yo. He is a thoughtful, compassionate young man who makes his family very proud.
